How History Solutions Works:

Our goal is to make it simple for schools to subscribe to History Solutions, and then to make it easy to introduce our simulations and lessons to students in the classroom. We will constantly be looking for feedback and advice to improve our systems. For information on technology and HistorySolutions, click here.

Registration: Fax and Mail registration is now available! This is how registration works:

  • 1st: You need to choose the type of membership (Full School Membership or Classroom Membership). See our Join Page for descriptions of these types of memberships.
  • 2nd: You will fill out a simple registration form. On this form, you will choose your own "Administrator" Login and Password. These are used by school administrators, teachers, or parents. They are never given out to students. You also pick a unique "School Abbreviation" ... more on that later.
  • 3rd: Then you can purchase your membership via credit card, check, or money order by simply printing the form and mailing to: History Solutions, Inc., 407 Main St., Chatham, NJ 07928 or by fax at 973-701-6774.
  • 4th: Once your payment is received, it takes us 3 - 5 days to set up your account. When the account is ready, we will email instructions on how to proceed. It's that simple!

Classroom Setup: This is how History Solutions will work in your classroom (once you register, you will receive an automatic email from us explaining this process):

  • 1st: To begin, you login at History Solutions and "register" your teachers. This is extremely easy: all you do is type in the teacher name and his or her email address (so they can receive student work by email). This should take you less than 5 minutes.
  • 2nd: Your school will have its own unique URL for History Solutions. Remember that unique "School Abbreviation" you selected when joining? That is used to create your School URL. For example, let's say your school is named Robert High School and you chose "RHS" as your School Abbreviation. Then your students will go to the following School URL to begin: http://www.historysolutions.com/RHS
  • 3rd: Have your teachers Login (using your Administrator Login ID/Password) and review our simulations and lessons. They will need some time to look them over and decide which ones they want to introduce to their students.
  • 4th: When a teacher is ready, he or she tells their students to go to the School URL. On that page, a student personally registers (the student selects his or her own Login ID/Password). The student then goes to the "Unit" that the teacher told them to review (for example: "The Road to Revolution"). The student begins with the "Historical Simulation" and moves through the other lessons. If the student doesn't finish, then they can login at home (!) and finish the assignment as homework. This is just one of the real strengths of History Solutions -- by individually tracking and SAVING student work, teachers are not restricted to only assigning work during class time.
Important Notes:
  • In each Unit, the first lesson is always called "Setup" ... on this page, the student must select which teacher will receive his or her work by email. The student simply selects the teacher's name from a drop down box! The student does not have access to the teacher's email address (see #1 above under "Classroom Setup").
  • Do you want students to skip certain lessons? Just tell them to do so! There is no reason for them to complete every lesson in a Unit unless you want them to ... you decide what is best for your classroom.
