Students can access History Solutions from any computer that has access to the Internet.
  • History Solutions is a personal Internet workstation. Therefore, if your students are in the middle of an activity they can just log off and finish at another time (homework) on any computer with Internet access. Also, your students can email their results home if your printers are temporarily broken.
  • Teachers can receive student results via email.

Computer Lab
If your school has a computer lab then there are many options with History Solutions.

  • Students can work in groups with History Solutions Activities. This is especially effective in the Historical Simulations and the Prediction Center where students will need to debate options.
  • Once students complete their essays in the Writer's Workshop they can switch seats and peer evaluate their essays (instead of self-evaluation).
  • Students can print out their work and the teacher can use this as a basis for their next class.

Screen Projection
There are many options for the classroom teacher who has a computer that can project its monitor:

  • The teacher can lead a class discussion through any of the activities. This is especially effective with the Historical Simulations, Cognitive Organizer, Primary Source Analysis, and Prediction Center:.
    • Historical Simulations-Allow the students to read the background information and then have the students vote as a class as to the "historically accurate decision". This will help the students examine multiple causes and counter arguments.
    • Cognitive Organizer-Print out and copy the Cognitive Organizer Worksheet and distribute it to the students. Project the Cognitive Organizer on the screen and use a vote to see if the students can fill out the computer assisted note-taker accurately.
    • Document Analysis -Print out the Primary Source Analysis Worksheet and enlarge the Primary Source on your screen and analyze it as a class. The teacher can type in responses to assist students in their note-taking.
    • Prediction Center-Print out the Prediction Center Worksheet and lead a class discussion on the consequences of the event. Project the Prediction Chart on your screen and type in responses to assist students in their note-taking. Use the HINT buttons to assist your students in their responses.
    • Writer's Workshop-There are many ways a teacher can use the Writer's Workshop with a computer-projected screen. Here are just a few ideas:.
      • The teacher can print out the Writer's Workshop Outline and lead a discussion as to how to best answer the essay question. The teacher can type in students' ideas as the Outline is projected on the screen. The teacher can also use the HINT button to assist students in their responses.
